Synopsis
Ippei Kusaba was a Rank 3 bureau investigator stationed at the CCG's branch in the 20th ward and the partner of Yasunori Nakajima. A young man in a formal suit and round glasses, he appears from the earliest episodes of Tokyo Ghoul as an ordinary Commission agent.
Kusaba stood out for the respect he showed the dead, objecting to digging up graves for evidence even when the deceased were ghouls. Naturally curious, he peppered Koutarou Amon with questions about his personal life, admiring him and hoping to one day become his equal as an investigator.
Alongside Nakajima, he joined the investigation of "Suspect 723" — Ryouko Fueguchi — led by Kureo Mado and Amon, and noticed her visiting a grave. He then took part in the assault on Ryouko and her daughter Hinami Fueguchi. That same evening, after dinner with his colleagues and a vow to give his best, he was killed by Touka Kirishima, the ghoul known as Rabbit. He was voiced by Taishi Murata in Japanese and Anthony Bowling in English.
