Synopsis
Kureo Mado is a First Class Ghoul Investigator and Koutarou Amon's demanding mentor, notorious across the CCG for his single-minded obsession with quinques — the weapons crafted from ghouls' own predatory organs. He is responsible for killing several ghouls over his career, including Hinami Fueguchi's mother.
Mado's fixation on quinques traces back to the death of his wife, who was ordered to single-handedly hold off the One-Eyed Owl and did not survive. After that loss he grows sterner and increasingly ruthless, treating every hunt as an opportunity to collect a new weapon rather than simply neutralize a threat, a habit that alienates even his own colleagues.
His pursuit of the ghoul known as Rabbit and the child Hinami Fueguchi ultimately leads to his death at the hands of Renji Yomo. Mado's quinques, forged in part from the very ghouls he killed, continue to shape the story long after him — several are later inherited and used by his daughter and by Amon.
