Synopsis
Akane Tsunemori joins Division 01 of the Public Safety Bureau's Criminal Investigation Department as a shy, idealistic rookie Inspector with near-perfect aptitude scores. Working alongside Enforcers Shinya Kogami, Tomomi Masaoka, and Shusei Kagari under Inspector Nobuchika Ginoza, she insists on treating the men under her as human beings rather than tools, a stance that unsettles her colleagues at first but earns their loyalty over time.
Her convictions are tested repeatedly by Shogo Makishima, who murders her best friend Yuki Funahara in front of her and forces her, twice, into situations where she cannot bring herself to kill him. Tsunemori chooses to bring him in alive rather than take revenge, a decision that costs her dearly but defines her sense of justice. After learning the true, unsettling nature of the Sibyl System, she chooses to keep working within it, believing change must come from people rather than force.
Later promoted to Chief Inspector, Tsunemori is eventually arrested for endangering public safety and detained pending trial, only to be released and reinstated as a statutory Enforcer aiding her successor, Mika Shimotsuki. Through every demotion and loss, she remains a rare protagonist whose Psycho-Pass stays healthy no matter what she witnesses.
