Synopsis
Kimi Nishino (西野 貴未) is a medical student at Kamii University and the human lover of the ghoul Nishiki Nishio in Tokyo Ghoul. Having lost her parents and younger brother in an accident, she was left utterly alone in Tokyo and had nearly resigned herself to wishing for death, until Nishiki reached out to her. That comfort forged a loyalty to him that defines her character.
Kimi discovered Nishiki's true nature after finding him gravely wounded following a clash with Ken Kaneki. Weakened, he attacked her, and she willingly let him feed on flesh from her shoulder, which left a lasting scar. Despite knowing that aiding ghouls was punished more harshly than sheltering human criminals, she guards his secret without hesitation.
During the Gourmet arc she was abducted by Shuu Tsukiyama, who intended a grotesque feast involving Kaneki. She was rescued by Touka Kirishima, whose kagune she called beautiful. Longing for a world where ghouls and humans can coexist, Kimi chose to assist researcher Akihiro Kanou, and later became a leading developer of synthetic food that ghouls could eat. She is voiced by Yurie Kobori in Japanese and Caitlin Glass in English.
