Synopsis
Hisako Arato is a 92nd-generation Tōtsuki student and the personal secretary of Erina Nakiri, whom she has served since childhood. Born into the Arato family, renowned for its mastery of Chinese medicine, she folded that knowledge into her own cooking style and dedicated herself entirely to supporting Erina, whom she regards almost as an empress to be protected.
Hisako manages Erina's schedule and workload with a level of skill impressive even for an adult, but her devotion comes at the cost of her own ambitions; she is content following a step behind rather than standing beside her friend. She successfully defended her position as Erina's secretary in a Shokugeki against Nao Sadatsuka, forcing her rival to keep a fifty-meter distance from Erina ever after.
A painful loss to Akira Hayama in the Autumn Election quarterfinals shakes Hisako's confidence badly, but with encouragement from Sōma Yukihira she resolves to stand beside Erina as an equal rather than merely serve her.
