Synopsis

Kazuo Yoshida (Yoshida Kazuo) was a ghoul of the 20th Ward who appears during the early events of Tokyo Ghoul. Behind a human facade he worked as a chief aerobics instructor at a fitness club and led an outwardly ordinary life, fond of coffee, tea time, and cycling. Part of Rize Kamishiro's former feeding ground was granted to him by Yoshimura, after which he chose his own prey.

Yoshida is portrayed as gullible and insecure, self-conscious about his age and prone to calming himself with exercise and repeated mantras. His death marks one of Ken Kaneki's first brushes with ghoul society. Drawn by the scent of human flesh, Kaneki stumbled upon Yoshida feeding in a dark alley, only for Nishiki Nishio to appear and kill Yoshida with a heavy kick to the head for hunting on his turf.

His character differs notably between versions: in the manga he possessively guards his meal and threatens Kaneki, whereas the anime makes him polite, even offering the boy a share. He also recurs in several comedic omake at the ends of volumes.
