Naoya Teshigawara

Naoya Teshigawara is one of the first classmates to talk to Kouichi Sakakibara on his first day at Yomiyama North Middle School, and the two quickly become close friends. Cheerful, sports-loving, and something of a class clown, Naoya provides much of the story's lighter moments, though a genuine soft-heartedness sits underneath the joking.

He has known classmate Tomohiko Kazami since childhood and is good friends with Yuuya Mochizuki as well, and by his own account has more of a crush on Izumi Akazawa than she is aware of. Despite being intimidated by Izumi in her role running the class's countermeasures, he is willing to openly disagree with her, particularly when she turns her suspicion on Mei Misaki.

Naoya's easy confidence is shaken badly once classmates start dying around him, and a tragic misunderstanding involving Tomohiko later in the story leaves him carrying guilt he never fully shakes off. Even so, he remains one of the few people in Class 3-3 who keeps trying, alongside Yuuya, to find an actual way to end the year's calamity rather than simply enduring it.
