Synopsis
Jun Shiomi is a 73rd-generation Tōtsuki alumna, a former resident of the Polar Star Dormitory, and now a lecturer at the academy heading the Shiomi Seminar, an expert on spices whose research is put into practice by her assistant Akira Hayama. Despite being in her thirties, her youthful appearance regularly gets her mistaken for a middle-school student.
Bookish and single-mindedly focused once she enters what her students call lecture mode, Jun is also extremely polite, low on self-confidence and prone to over-apologizing, traits that once led to an absurd, endless apology loop with Megumi Tadokoro. Most of her daily chores, from watering the seminar's spice plants to basic self-care, actually fall to Akira, whom she found as an orphaned child abroad and adopted as her ward.
Jun's history with the Polar Star's Golden Era is more painful than nostalgic: as its youngest resident, she was repeatedly used as a taste tester for Jōichirō Saiba's disastrous experimental dishes, and the resentment runs deep enough that she reflexively punched his son Sōma the moment she learned whose child he was.
