Synopsis
Megumi Tadokoro is one of the series' heroines, a 92nd-generation Tōtsuki student and Polar Star Dormitory resident who later holds the 10th seat of the Elite Ten Council. She grew up in a small Tōhoku port town helping her mother run the family's ryokan, and it was her mother who encouraged her to attend Tōtsuki after Megumi single-handedly saved the inn's signature goosefish dish by learning a difficult traditional cutting technique from local fishermen.
Kind, timid and easily rattled under pressure, Megumi initially struggles at Tōtsuki and is written off by classmates as the class dunce, taking three months just to pass the dormitory's entrance exam. Her defining strength is hospitality: she cooks with a specific person in mind for every dish, a lesson from her mother that later moves even the hardened Kojirō Shinomiya to tears.
Megumi's confidence grows steadily after her first Shokugeki victory, though she still relies heavily on Sōma Yukihira's creativity during difficult assignments. She shares a close, supportive friendship with fellow dorm residents Ryōko Sakaki and Yūki Yoshino.
