Synopsis
Better known by his human alias Mephisto Pheles, Samael is one of Satan's sons and the second-strongest of the Eight Demon Kings, ranked as a Ba'al. He serves as an Honorary Knight of the True Cross Order and founded True Cross Academy, where he acts as principal and, following the death of Shiro Fujimoto, personally arranged for Rin Okumura to enroll against the Grigori's wishes.
Mephisto is theatrical, eccentric, and notoriously stingy despite his taste for sweets and Japanese pop culture. Beneath the showmanship lies a careful, calculating mind: he claims to want peace between the human world of Assiah and the demon realm of Gehenna, but quietly manipulates events around Rin and his half-brother Yukio Okumura to further his own, largely hidden, agenda.
He has wandered Assiah for centuries under various names, and forged the sword Kurikara, the vessel later used to seal Satan's power inside Rin. His familiar, the kitchen spirit Ukobach, cooks for the Okumura brothers at his direction.
