Synopsis
Yukio Okumura is the deuteragonist of Blue Exorcist, the younger twin of Rin Okumura and, like him, the son of Yuri Egin and Satan, raised by the priest Shiro Fujimoto. Unlike Rin, Yukio was born without demonic flame, though a wound inflicted by his brother at birth left him permanently able to perceive demons.
Trained by Shiro from childhood, Yukio became an exorcist prodigy, earning both the Dragoon and Doctor meister titles by age thirteen. He teaches Anti-Demon Pharmacology at the True Cross Academy cram school, where he also ends up instructing his own brother in exorcism.
Calm, studious, and reserved in public, Yukio is far more critical and combative with the people closest to him, especially Rin. Underneath his composed exterior he is deeply self-loathing, resentful of what he sees as his own weakness compared to Rin's raw strength, a tension that grows more volatile as the series progresses.
