Synopsis
Shion Karanomori serves as the Analyst of Division 01, a former physician whose exceptional skill was diverted into law enforcement after her Psycho-Pass deteriorated during medical school. She complains constantly about being overworked by the Public Safety Bureau, but the complaints mask real dedication — on the job, she is sharp, thorough, and reliably helpful to the Inspectors who rely on her lab work.
Glamorous and unapologetically flirtatious, Karanomori openly teases Shinya Kogami despite being in a committed, long-term relationship with fellow latent criminal Yayoi Kunizuka. As a designated latent criminal herself, she cannot leave the Bureau's headquarters without an Inspector's supervision, a restriction that leads to a running joke of dragging Nobuchika Ginoza along on shopping trips he clearly dreads. Beneath the playful surface, she shows real tenderness toward Kunizuka during the couple's hardest moments, at one point sending a message declaring her love in case she doesn't survive an injury.
Karanomori maintains warm, professional relationships with Akane Tsunemori and the rest of the division, and her bond with Kunizuka endures across years of separation, eventually leading the two to decide to live together.
