Synopsis
Ryota Watari is one of the main characters of Your Lie in April, captain of his school's football team and a longtime friend of Kousei Arima. He is friendly and easygoing, quick to charm girls, and has something of a reputation as a flirt.
Beneath the casual attitude, though, Watari is genuinely supportive of the people close to him — comforting a teammate after their final loss, and standing by Kousei when he works up the courage to confess his feelings. It's Watari who tells him that whether he's worth it is the girl's call to make, not his own, even though Watari himself is quietly fond of Kaori Miyazono and chooses to step back for his friend's sake.
He is tall and lean for his age, with medium-length light brown hair swept to one side and warm caramel-brown eyes. His uniform is usually worn a little loose, tie undone and shirt untucked, which only adds to his relaxed, approachable look.
