Synopsis
Goumasa Tokage is a human supporting character in Tokyo Ghoul who works as a combat instructor at the CCG's 2nd Ghoul Investigator Training Academy. He formerly served as an interrogator at the Cochlea detention facility, where he became notorious for his sadism. When Yakumo Oomori, known as Yamori, was imprisoned there, Tokage tortured him for days on end until the ghoul lost his mind. The situation slipped from his control: Yamori broke free and inflicted the same suffering back on him, leaving his face disfigured and scarred, with one prominent gash running down the left side.
Discredited by the scandal, Tokage was dismissed and reassigned as an instructor. He continued indulging his cruelty by slaughtering animals for amusement, scattering their corpses around the academy grounds — reportedly as many as ten dogs, forty cats, and numerous smaller creatures. When Juuzou Suzuya caught him in the act, Tokage threatened his life, and the staff later covered up his crimes by pinning the blame on Suzuya.
Yamori's "Jason" persona is thought to be modeled in part on Tokage, a mark of how deep his depravity ran. His distinctive habit of cracking his fingers was inherited by Yamori and, through him, passed to Ken Kaneki. In the manga he is eventually stabbed to death by a student, whereas the anime leaves him alive. He is voiced by Atsuyoshi Miyazaki in Japanese and Bradley Campbell in English.
