Synopsis
Juuzou Suzuya is a Special Class Ghoul Investigator first introduced as Yukinori Shinohara's eccentric young partner, later rising to command his own Suzuya Squad. Raised from childhood by a sadistic ghoul known as Big Madam, he was forced to fight and kill for entertainment, leaving him without ordinary fear, pain, or moral boundaries by the time Kishou Arima rescued him.
That upbringing left Suzuya cheerful and playful on the surface but disturbingly casual about violence underneath, treating extermination as a game and collecting trophies from his kills. Over the course of the series, exposure to more stable relationships — first with Shinohara, later with his own squad and Ken Kaneki — gradually humanizes him, giving him something closer to genuine attachment and purpose.
After Arima's death, Suzuya is named his successor as the CCG's foremost fighter, earning nicknames like the Next Arima and the Reaper. He eventually stands among the peacekeepers who help end the ghoul-human conflict, evolving from a broken weapon into a leader others can rely on.
