Tatsumi

Tatsumi is the protagonist of Akame ga Kill!, a country swordsman who set out for the Capital with his childhood friends Sayo and Ieyasu to earn money for their struggling village. After discovering the two had been tortured to death by a family posing as benefactors, and witnessing the Empire's corruption firsthand, he joins Night Raid, the assassination unit working to bring the regime down.

Under the wing of Bulat, who treats him like a younger brother, Tatsumi grows from a naive fighter into a capable assassin, eventually inheriting Bulat's Teigu Incursio. Kind-hearted but willing to kill when his friends or ideals are threatened, he carries the deaths of the people close to him as motivation through the war against the Empire. He later marries fellow Night Raid member Mine.
