Taro (タロ) is a modified human who served as the "scrapper" of the Ghoul Restaurant in Tokyo Ghoul, performing on its gruesome dismantling shows. His real name is never revealed, and he was kept as the property of the establishment's mysterious owner, known only as Madam A. Towering and heavily muscled, he dwarfs ordinary humans; his face stays hidden behind a cloth mask, and he carries a pair of scissors and a butcher's knife on him at all times.
Taro was intellectually disabled and could barely speak, his sentences shrinking to single words that he repeated over and over. He addressed Madam A as "Mama," since she spoke to him as though he were an infant. At her command, he butchered captive humans for the amusement of the restaurant's ghoul patrons.
When Shuu Tsukiyama brought Ken Kaneki to the venue, Taro took the stage as executioner. Unable to saw through Kaneki, he was handed a quinque saw, but in the ensuing fight he was gravely wounded and offered to the other ghouls as food in Kaneki's place. Later, Dr. Akihiro Kanou referenced "the Taro-chan course" while discussing one of his experiments. He is voiced by Taketora in Japanese and Jonathan C. Osborne in English.
