Synopsis
Takemitsu Tanashi is the father of Tanashi Miyoko and appears together with his wife, Mother Tanashi, in the Matsuribayashi-hen arc of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai. He is voiced by Yoshihisa Kawahara. Most of what is known about him comes through his daughter's memories, since in the story's original course both parents die.
While traveling together as a family (adaptations differ on whether it is a train or a bus), Takemitsu, his wife, and Miyoko are caught in a fatal accident. Miyoko finds her father alive but gravely injured at the hospital, where he tells her that her mother died instantly. Because the rest of their relatives were lost during World War II, he warns her that no one will be left to look after her once he is gone, and asks her to contact his former professor, Hifumi Takano. He manages to whisper the man's phone number to her before dying of his wounds.
A gentler, recurring memory shows the family together at a restaurant, where Miyoko happily receives a "Child's Meal" that comes with a small souvenir flag. In an alternate turn of events shown after the story's original ending, an adult Rika Furude (Frederica Bernkastel) intervenes shortly before the accident, letting Takemitsu, his wife, and Miyoko avoid the tragedy and share that same meal together instead.
