Synopsis
Sara Shane is a blind touring musician and the lead vocalist of the band ZHIEND. Calm, well-traveled, and quietly stubborn, she first appears wandering Hoshinoumi's neighborhood asking strangers for directions to a local dish, unfazed by people avoiding her because of her blindness.
Beneath her laid-back manner is a devout streak — she is openly religious and describes her blindness as something she gave up willingly, a kind of penance. She strikes up an unlikely friendship with Yuu Otosaka, who eventually introduces her to Kazuki Tomori, a hospitalized fan of her band. Her singing manages to calm Kazuki in a way nothing else has, gradually helping him reconnect with his sister Nao.
Sara's own backstory carries its own quiet tragedy: her rise to fame attracted the kind of attention that put her family in danger, and she traded away her eyesight to protect them — a sacrifice she treats with far more grace than bitterness.
