Shalnark Ryuseih

Shalnark was member #6 of the Phantom Troupe and a professional Hunter as well; he ranked tenth in physical strength within the group. Like the rest of the founders, he was born in Meteor City.

He was a tall, lean, muscular young man with blond hair and bright green eyes. The 2011 adaptation puts him in a lavender suit; the 1999 one gives him a dark red outfit and copper hair.

Shalnark was cheerful and highly intelligent, quick on his feet, polite and level-headed — more often than not it was he who tried to be the voice of reason when tensions in the Troupe ran high.

His ability, Black Voice, let him control people through an implanted antenna, while his personal "autopilot mode" sharply amplified his own capabilities. He disliked that mode, though, because he could neither remember his actions nor take any satisfaction in them.

He got on with everyone in the group but was closest to Uvogin. His loyalty to the Spider was absolute: after Chrollo's capture he sided with Feitan and Phinks. It was he who piloted the hot-air balloon during the escape from Yorknew. Voiced by Noriko Hidaka in the 2011 series and Yasuhiro Takato in the 1999 one.
