Synopsis
Yuzuru Otonashi wakes up in the afterlife with no memories and is almost immediately pulled into Yuri Nakamura's war against a girl the rebels call Angel. In life he raised his younger sister Hatsune Otonashi alone; she was bedridden with an illness for years, and he worked odd jobs just to buy her manga, finding his reason to keep going in her gratitude.
After her death he resolved to become a doctor and studied hard despite never finishing high school. On his way to his entrance exam he was caught in a train accident, and with his last strength signed an organ donor card. His heart later went to Kanade Tachibana, though neither of them realized the connection for a long time.
In the afterlife, Yuzuru joins the SSS and grows close to Kanade, eventually helping prove she isn't an agent of God but an ordinary former student. His empathy and steady judgment are what allow the group to finally lay its fight to rest.
