Synopsis
Hatsune Otonashi is the younger sister of Yuzuru Otonashi, bedridden in hospital for years with an unspecified illness. Her brother became her only real caretaker, visiting her daily and bringing new manga despite barely scraping by on part-time work.
When her condition worsened and the hospital refused to let her go outside, Yuzuru secretly carried her out on his back to see the city's Christmas lights. She died quietly in his arms that same night, thanking him one last time.
Her death became the turning point of Yuzuru's life: her memory is what pushed him to study medicine, and it was for people like her that he signed an organ donor card with his final breath.
