Synopsis
Shiemi Moriyama is a tritagonist of Blue Exorcist, the daughter of Shiyumi Moriyama and Ilya Hazai, and a descendant of the ancient being Shemihaza. After her father was killed by a demon when she was six, Shiemi withdrew into herself, spending most of her childhood confined to her family's home, tended by her grandmother and largely isolated from other children.
Following her grandmother's death, Shiemi was targeted by a plant demon that fed on her life energy; after Rin and Yukio Okumura exorcised it, she enrolled at True Cross Academy to train as a Tamer, gaining the Greenman familiar known as Nii-chan.
Shy, naive, and eager to make friends, Shiemi is easily taken advantage of at first, mistaking manipulation from classmates like Izumo Kamiki for genuine friendship. Kind and unfailingly optimistic despite her hardships, she grows steadily more confident as the series progresses, eventually training in her ancestral role to honor her family's legacy.
