Miko

Miko is the ruler and representative of the werebeasts, the race that controls the Eastern Union, the third-largest nation on the game-board world of Disboard. Uniting the werebeasts' warring tribes into a single country took her more than fifty years, and cost her something personal along the way: her birth name was wagered and lost during the union's founding, which is why she now goes only by her title.

She looked down on the human race, Imanity, much like most of Disboard did, until a truce with Sora forced her to reconsider — his refusal to sacrifice anyone, even when sacrifice was the efficient choice, earned a respect she doesn't give easily. She subsequently ordered her subordinates, Izuna Hatsuse and the diplomat Ino Hatsuse, to follow the siblings and learn from them, betting that Sora and Shiro had more to teach than any werebeast tradition could.

Like a rare handful of her people, Miko can trigger a heightened blood state that sharpens her senses to detect movement and magic across hundreds of metres and lets her calculate odds with near-supernatural precision, at the cost of leaving her exhausted afterward. Despite her age — well past fifty, though she looks decades younger — she remains the sharpest political mind among the werebeasts, having built a nation almost single-handedly through games rather than war.
