Morel McCarnathy

Morel McCarnathy, known as the Smoke Man, is a Single-Star Sea Hunter who fights with a giant smoking pipe and the smoke from it, and one of the central members of the Chimera Ant Extermination Team. He is the master of both Knuckle Bine and Shoot McMahon.

He is a tall, well-built middle-aged man with shoulder-length white hair and strong features — a broad face, a heavy square chin and a crooked nose. He is never without his pince-nez sunglasses, and typically wears a red tie and a grey shirt tucked into his trousers, with the enormous pipe slung at his back.

Like his colleagues, Morel is experienced, calm and patient: he will wait a long time for a plan to come to fruition and keeps his composure in the middle of a battle. He reads opponents with unusual accuracy — it was that steadiness that let him outwit both Cheetu and Leol.

As the teacher of two Hunters he shows genuine leadership and works in close coordination with his teammates.

His abilities are Deep Purple and Smoky Jail: he shapes the smoke from his pipe into anything he needs, from combat forms to a prison there is no escaping. He and Knov are long-standing comrades, both members of the pro-Netero faction within the Association.
