Isaac Netero

Isaac Netero was the 12th Chairman of the Hunter Association and, in his prime, revered as the most powerful Nen user in the world. Born somewhere between 1879 and 1889, he is well past a hundred and ten by the time of the story.

He looks like a helpless old man and is in fact remarkably fit and muscular for his age, with a ponytail, a thick beard and stretched earlobes pierced twice on each side. He is usually seen in a traditional kimono and single-toothed geta.

Netero was energetic, playful to the point of mischief and at times apparently absent-minded. He could act with full professional weight as Chairman, but outside that he was extravagant enough to be called insane — during the 287th Hunter Exam the gap between what he said and what he thought was plain. In a fight, though, he was a true martial artist and utterly earnest, and he loved a challenge.

He once fought Maha Zoldyck and is said to be the only person to have survived doing so. At forty-six, believing he had reached the ceiling of his physical potential, he went up into the mountains.

His technique is the 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva, an enormous aura statue that strikes faster than thought — the weapon he brought against Meruem. Voiced by Ichirō Nagai and Banjō Ginga in the 2011 series and Bunmei Tobayama in the 1999 one.
