Synopsis
Emi Igawa is a pianist and one of the key supporting characters of Your Lie in April. She competes against Kousei Arima and Takeshi Aiza, and trains under her instructor Yuriko Ochiai.
At first glance Emi comes across as cool and distant, holding herself with a mature, almost aloof composure and her arms crossed. That reserve is a sharp contrast to her playing, which is temperamental and charged with emotion. Her teacher describes her as someone whose feelings spill out easily once she lets her guard down, and that same volatility defines her style at the keys.
Underneath the cold exterior, Emi gradually warms up to both Kousei and Takeshi, most visibly in the lead-up to their final performances in the series.
She is a slender teenage girl of average height, with waist-length black hair with bangs above her eyebrows and reddish-brown eyes.
