Synopsis
Gon Freecss is the protagonist of Hunter x Hunter and a Rookie Hunter from Whale Island. He took the Hunter Exam in order to find his father, Ging Freecss, who left him in the care of his relative Mito before his second birthday and never came back.
He is a boy with long, spiky black hair tipped in green and large hazel-brown eyes, usually dressed in a green jacket with reddish edges over a tank top, green trousers and green lace-up boots.
Gon is athletic, plucky and thoroughly rustic, and a childhood spent in the woods left him unusually good with animals. He is an Enhancer — a type known for being single-minded and stubborn — and that stubbornness is exactly what makes both allies and enemies take him seriously. His senses are close to inhuman: his sense of smell is almost a dog's, and his sight and hearing are just as sharp. Mathematics, on the other hand, defeats him.
He earned permission to take the exam by catching the Master of the Swamp, a fish five grown fishermen together could not land; it took him a week. Throughout the exam he was praised for his powers of observation, his agility and his stamina, and his fishing rod served as both tool and weapon — he snatched Hisoka's tag with it while the man was moving at full speed.
His signature Nen technique is Jajanken, built on rock-paper-scissors. Voiced by Megumi Han in the 2011 series and Junko Takeuchi in the 1999 one.
