Synopsis
Tabata Ami, usually called Ami-chan, is one of Hiyori's two closest friends at school, alongside Akira Yamashita. Calm, mature, and a stronger student than her more scattered friend, Ami is the one who tends to worry seriously whenever Hiyori suddenly drops off to sleep in public — never realizing it is actually her soul slipping loose from her body.
She was there for the incident that changed Hiyori's life, watching her get struck by a truck without seeing what — or who — she was saving, and helped call the ambulance that followed. Since then Ami has stayed a steady, loyal presence, sticking by Hiyori's side even when her family is later hit with a wave of lawsuits. She has a playful streak of her own too, needling Hiyori about her love life every bit as much as Akira does, in her own quieter way.
