Synopsis
Tatsuma Suguro is the head priest of a Kyoto temple, a survivor of the Blue Night massacre of clergymen, and the father of Ryuji Suguro. Locally known as the Priest of the Cursed Temple for the disaster that struck his community, he outwardly appears indifferent to his duties, often absent and reeking of alcohol when Ryuji and his fellow Exwires arrive for training.
Before the Blue Night, Tatsuma met the priest Shiro Fujimoto, who arrived at his temple gravely injured after stealing the sword Kurikara. Tatsuma tended his wounds and, impressed by Shiro's subsequent help treating those poisoned by demonic toxin — including his own pregnant wife — entrusted him with the blade, believing he would never misuse it.
Despite his laid-back exterior, Tatsuma proves formidable when circumstances demand it, having secured his own contract with the demon Karura and shown careful foresight in preparing for the worst. Above all, he is protective of his son, deliberately keeping Ryuji away from the dangers surrounding the Impure King.
