Synopsis
Kiyoko Shimizu is the manager of Karasuno High's boys' volleyball team, recruited as a first-year by Daichi Sawamura despite knowing almost nothing about the sport at the time — she taught herself the rules, referee signals, and everything else the role required. Before that, Shimizu competed in track and field as a hurdler, retiring for undisclosed reasons and hiding the scars from repeated injuries under tights ever since.
Reserved and hard to read at first glance, Shimizu clearly cares about the team more than she lets on: she personally mends and washes Karasuno's old team banner to help lift morale before a big match. She's also unexpectedly strong physically, calmly deflecting a ball headed straight for the team's younger manager without flinching. Despite a reputation among rival schools as the beautiful manager, Shimizu grows visibly warmer over time, smiling and joking more often once she takes the newer manager under her wing.
After graduating, Shimizu married Ryuunosuke Tanaka and works at a sporting goods store.
