Synopsis
Daichi Sawamura is the captain and a wing spiker for Karasuno High, who made a promise back in junior high to his friend Hayato Ikejiri that the two would meet on opposite sides of the net again once they went to different high schools. Daichi chose Karasuno specifically because of a nationals-level match he once watched, and was disappointed to find the club without a proper coach — a setback that only hardened his resolve to rebuild the team's reputation.
Responsible and protective, Daichi consistently puts the team first, even when that means being strict. He temporarily took over coaching duties himself when Ikkei Ukai was hospitalized. When genuinely angry, he can intimidate even the rowdiest players on the team — he once locked Kageyama and Hinata out of the gym after they refused to stop arguing during practice — but every decision he makes is clearly for the team's benefit, which is exactly why he commands unquestioning respect.
After graduating, Daichi joined the Miyagi Prefectural Police, serving in its Community Safety Division.
