Synopsis
Mayumi Kurase is Sōma Yukihira's close friend and former classmate from kindergarten through middle school, one of the neighborhood regulars whose faith in him predates his time at Tōtsuki entirely. A shy, meek girl who struggles with self-confidence, she often needs a push from her friend Aki Koganei before she works up the nerve to act on her feelings.
Mayumi developed a crush on Sōma during their elementary school years, drawn to what she saw as his effortless coolness, and became a regular at Restaurant Yukihira as a result. That loyalty came at a literal cost: she was frequently roped in as a taste tester for his early, disastrous cooking experiments, and just as often served as an impromptu judge for his cooking duels against his father, Jōichirō Yukihira.
Sōma trusts Mayumi enough to hand her small but meaningful responsibilities in his absence, like watering the restaurant's flowers or preparing the Sumire Karaage Roll, a quiet vote of confidence in someone who was easily overshadowed by more assertive classmates like Ikumi Mito.
