Synopsis
Miyoko Hōjō is a 92nd-generation Tōtsuki student and heir to Hōjōrō, her family's fifty-year-old Chinese restaurant in Yokohama's Chinatown, known among classmates as the Iron Fire Dragon Girl. She became the restaurant's first female head chef after succeeding her father, over the open objection of a sous chef who refused to accept a woman in charge.
Strong-willed and combative, Miyoko believes fiercely that women deserve the same pride and prestige as men in the kitchen, and looks down on women who lean on male help as a matter of principle. That same conviction makes her fiercely protective of the weak: she once stomped her feet to scare off students bullying Megumi Tadokoro, no explanation needed.
Before enrolling at Tōtsuki, Miyoko endured a year of insults about her gender and ability from the same sous chef who opposed her, until she proved her skill was on par with his and openly promised to take his job the moment she graduated. Her ultimate goal is the Elite Ten Council's 1st seat, the absolute proof of prestige she has spent her life chasing.
