Synopsis
Hideki Hinata co-founded the SSS alongside Yuri Nakamura and stars as the protagonist of the Heaven's Door manga. In life he was raised by an uncle's family he never felt close to, escaping into baseball and a boarding school on a sports scholarship just to spend as little time with his foster parents as possible.
Baseball gradually consumed his life. After his team adopted a stray dog and Hinata secretly abandoned it in the mountains out of frustration, he was branded as heartless; soon after, he missed a decisive catch in the championship final and spiraled into a depression that ultimately led to his death.
In the afterlife Hinata is cheerful and easygoing, a constant source of comic relief, while remaining fiercely loyal to Yuri Nakamura — he's the one who coined her nickname Yurippe — and to Yui, whose final regret, never getting married, he helps her resolve by acting out a proposal.
