Synopsis

Helga is the wife of the warrior Thors and the mother of his two children — his daughter Ylva and his son Thorfinn. Slender and pale-skinned, with blonde hair and blue eyes, she is usually seen in a white bandana, a short red cape, and a white and light-green outfit. Warm and kind-hearted, she is the keeper of a quiet home in the harsh world of the Vikings.

She comes from noble stock: she is the daughter of Sigvaldi, former chief of the Jomsvikings, and the niece of the towering warrior Thorkell. Her father married her to Thors when he became captain of the Jomsvikings, and Ylva was born while Thors still served in the band. When Thors — believed dead — secretly deserted the battlefield and fled the war, the couple took the infant Ylva and left Jomsborg to settle in Iceland, far from the fighting.

In their remote Icelandic village Helga raises her children and eventually becomes a grandmother, with her daughter marrying Ari. She appears throughout Vinland Saga, from the prologue to the story's later chapters. She is voiced by Ao Takahashi in Japanese, and by Patricia Duran and Julia McIlvaine in English.
