Helbram

Helbram was once the closest friend of the Fairy King King, before centuries of hatred for humanity turned him into one of the story's earliest antagonists. Originally a fairy who genuinely enjoyed human culture, he was driven to madness after watching human merchants tear the wings off his friends and kill them, and he spent the next five hundred years killing humans in revenge, eventually taking the form of a knight named Aldrich whom he had slain.

Playful and flirtatious even in the middle of combat, Helbram can seem harmless at first, but he is just as cruel and calculating as any other Holy Knight, willing to target the innocent simply to provoke King. His arrogance runs deep: he genuinely believes the Sacred Tree favors him over King himself.

When King finally catches up to his old friend, he is forced to kill him to stop the killing. Helbram's body is later found and revived by Hendrickson using forbidden necromancy, binding him into service as a Holy Knight until his second death, after which his soul lingers inside his helmet, letting King speak with him one last time.
