Synopsis
Itaru Hashida, better known as Daru, is a self-taught hacker who built a reputation online under the handle DaSH, as well as a devoted otaku and the third member of the Future Gadget Laboratory. He and Rintarou Okabe have been friends since high school, and he joined the lab shortly after Mayuri Shiina, partly because the maid café where she works happens to be nearby.
Daru is unapologetically obsessed with moe culture and prone to crude jokes that annoy everyone around him, though he is fully aware of how he comes across. Despite that, he is responsible for most of the lab's actual engineering, carefully, and often needlessly, versioning every piece of code he writes.
Years later, Itaru becomes the husband of Yuki Amane and the father of Suzuha Amane, a fact he himself does not learn for a long time. That hidden family connection turns out to be one of the threads tying the lab's story to the fate of a traveler from the future.
