Synopsis
Gorm is a feudal lord who rules a village on the Jutland Peninsula in Denmark. His defining trait is an obsession with gold; by his own account, merely gazing upon it brightens a man's heart. An elderly man with hair a little past the shoulders and a pointed beard, he is a miser at heart, lecturing anyone who errs about exactly how much money the mistake has cost him. He is the brother of Olaf and the uncle of the mercenary captain Askeladd.
He first appears in his own home, haggling with Askeladd over the price of lodging and feeding his band of men. Waiting on him is a slave, Hordaland, the daughter of a Norwegian lord who was sold into bondage after her family lost a war. When Thorfinn arrives, Gorm agrees to serve as witness and presides over the duel between the boy and Askeladd. At a feast that evening he flies into a rage and whips Hordaland for dropping food on the floor, demanding she learn what provisions cost.
A minor figure in Vinland Saga, he is voiced by Tadashi Miyazawa in Japanese and by Chris Hutchison and Doug Stone in English.
