Chikara Ennoshita

Chikara Ennoshita is a substitute wing spiker for Karasuno High who becomes team captain in his third year. As a first-year, when former coach Ikkei Ukai returned and introduced brutal new training, Ennoshita briefly left the club along with Kinoshita and Narita — and only came back once all three realized how much they actually missed volleyball, by which point Ukai had already been hospitalized again. The self-deprecating nickname the Ungrateful Second-Years stuck with the trio ever since.

Quiet and reserved, often wearing a gentle smile, Ennoshita is also the only second-year able to rein in Tanaka and Nishinoya when they get too carried away. He reads people well and knows how to reach each of his teammates individually, which is exactly why the others see him as a natural fit for captain — even though Ennoshita himself starts out unsure, given how little official match experience he actually has.

After graduating, Ennoshita went on to work as a physical therapist.
