Dreyfus

Dreyfus is a former Great Holy Knight of Liones, younger brother of Zaratras, and father of Griamore. Dignified and dedicated to his duty, he is willing to go to extreme lengths for what he believes protects the kingdom, including turning against his own king and brutally attacking members of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Beneath that severity lies real guilt: Dreyfus never actually wanted to kill Zaratras or seize his position, and his jealousy toward his brother, worsened by watching his own son admire Zaratras instead of him, made him vulnerable to manipulation. When the demon Fraudrin offered him a chance to rebel, Dreyfus refused out of loyalty, only for Fraudrin to steal his body anyway and use it to carry out the murder Dreyfus himself never agreed to.

His closest bond outside his family is with his lifelong friend Hendrickson, whom he grieves for deeply when the two are later separated by Hendrickson's fall into darkness. Dreyfus's arc is ultimately about a proud man forced to reckon with guilt for a crime he was denied any real choice in committing.
