Synopsis

Ittetsu Takeda teaches contemporary Japanese literature at Karasuno High and also serves as faculty advisor and head coach of the volleyball club, though the actual on-court coaching largely falls to Keishin Ukai. Takeda has almost no personal volleyball experience, and he knows it — but sheer persistence, including plenty of humble bowing to rival schools, is what finally secures the practice matches the club had long been missing.

Optimistic, modest, and occasionally clumsy, Takeda treats his students with unwavering respect. He regularly delivers pep talks built around elaborate analogies, then worries afterward that the imagery might have been too confusing — doubts Daichi is quick to dismiss. Underneath the mild-mannered exterior, though, is real backbone: when something genuinely matters, Takeda knows how to hold his ground.

It's Takeda's persistence that ultimately secures Keishin Ukai as the team's dedicated coach and arranges the landmark practice match against Karasuno's old rival, Nekoma.
