Synopsis
Ragnar is the chief retainer and closest counsellor to Prince Canute in the historical drama Vinland Saga. Having served the prince since he was a small boy, he effectively acts as a guardian and foster father, staying at his ward's side wherever he goes.
Ragnar is an overbearing, doting figure who treats Canute more like a fond parent than a servant. He is quick to anger, bristling instantly at any slight or disparaging remark aimed at the prince. Protecting Canute and keeping him safe is the driving purpose of his life.
In appearance he is an older, heavy-set man, bald except for long black hair at the sides of his head, with thick brows, a full beard and deep-set, heavily wrinkled features. He works to keep his expression composed even in his gravest moments. He has a younger brother, Gunnar.
In the anime he is voiced by Jin Urayama in Japanese, and by Rob Mungle and Kyle Hebert in English.
