Synopsis
Pairo was Kurapika's closest childhood friend and a member of the Kurta Clan. He had short brown hair and maroon eyes and wore a maroon tabard trimmed in pale yellow; like all Kurta, his eyes flared bright scarlet when his emotions ran high.
Pairo was the steadier of the two and often talked Kurapika down. He absorbed verbal and physical abuse from thugs hired by the village elder without losing his composure, and apologised even knowing he had done nothing wrong. Beneath that restraint lay both courage and a certain craftiness.
He fell from a cliff trying to keep Kurapika from falling, and was left with weak legs and steadily worsening eyesight. The injuries erased his memory of the incident — while the unhurt Kurapika carried the guilt and resolved to find a cure for him.
It is Pairo who surfaces in Kurapika's mind at the decisive moments, when he tells himself he will not lose another friend. Voiced by Umika Kawashima in the Phantom Rouge film.
