Synopsis
Manabu is a shy, short middle-schooler at Shiratori Academy — the same school Hiyori Iki attends as an upperclassman — and one of Yato's paying clients. Constant bullying between classes, including from a classmate named Hashimoto, had gotten bad enough that Manabu took to hiding in the girls' restroom, since his tormentors wouldn't follow him there, before he finally called on Yato for help.
He reads as meek at first meeting, shaped by that experience of being picked on and openly wanting friends rather than conflict. That meekness has a limit, though — pushed far enough, Manabu is capable of real anger, even if he would clearly rather not resort to violence to solve his problems.
