Nishida

Nishida is one of the oldest players trapped in Sword Art Online and one of the few who genuinely enjoys the life the virtual world offers him, spending much of his time fishing rather than fighting. Outside the game, he works for a network operator that partnered with Argus, the game's publisher, to maintain SAO's connection infrastructure, meaning his real job was, in a sense, keeping the world he is now trapped in running smoothly.

Kind, patient, and content with a quieter pace of life than most clearers pursue, Nishida represents a different way of surviving Aincrad: rather than racing toward the front lines, he settles into a low-key, self-sufficient routine and finds genuine contentment in it. His fishing expertise later proves useful to younger players he takes under his wing, including Kirito and Asuna, whom he teaches the basics of the trade.

His presence is a reminder that not everyone caught in the death game responded to it the same way, and that some found an unexpected peace within it.
