Synopsis
Lydia was a Welsh noblewoman taken captive and enslaved by the Norse warrior Olaf. Her story unfolds in the background of Vinland Saga, illuminating the origins of one of the tale's pivotal figures.
She was a lean woman with long, light blonde hair and blue eyes, dressed in a plain gray robe. The years of bondage broke her mind, and she consequently fell out of Olaf's favour. Even so, Lydia loved her son — Askeladd — with all her heart. Her bloodline was said to trace back to the legendary commander Lucius Artorius Castus.
Lydia is deceased, appearing chiefly as a memory that shapes Askeladd's character and ambitions. She was voiced in Japanese by Sayaka Ohara, and in English by Joanne Bonasso and Laura Post.
