Synopsis
Komiyama is a police officer with the Okinomiya police department, appearing alongside detectives Ooishi and Kumagai in the investigations that run through Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai and the earlier arcs of the franchise. He first appears in the Onikakushi arc, telling Ooishi that a call meant for him came in through a payphone. He later becomes one of three officers assigned to investigate the deaths of Kyousuke Irie and Tamae Houjou.
Across the anime adaptations, Komiyama is a recurring but minor presence, usually shown accompanying Ooishi and Kumagai during field investigations or in scenes at the police station, including the arrest of Teppei Houjou.
He is described as having brown hair and eyes, and wears a white shirt with a blue tie. He is voiced by Satoshi Tsuruoka in Japanese and by Steve Kramer in the English dub. Though rarely central to the plot, Komiyama is referenced frequently throughout the original visual novels as part of Okinomiya's small police force investigating the string of mysterious deaths surrounding the village.
