Sayuri Kakinuma

Sayuri Kakinuma is a quiet, bookish student in Class 3-3, often found reading alone or spending time in the school library, an interest she shares with classmate Yukito Tsujii. Reserved and mature for her age, she keeps to herself for much of the story.

Witnessing her homeroom teacher's suicide affects her badly enough that she stays away from school for several days afterward, one of several students visibly shaken by that event.

On the class trip, Sayuri is briefly swept into the panic over Mei Misaki, going so far as to consider taking action herself before pulling back to focus on her own safety instead. She escapes the burning inn relatively unharmed, one of the trip's quieter survivors.
