Synopsis
Masami Iwasawa is the founder and original leader of Girls Dead Monster, writing its lyrics and music while serving as lead guitarist and vocalist. In life she grew up in a troubled household where her parents fought constantly; during one such fight her father struck her in the head, an injury that later triggered a stroke and left her paralyzed and unable to speak for the rest of her life.
Music by a band called Sad Machine gave her something to hold onto, inspiring her to pick up a guitar. In the afterlife she meets Hisako Fuchita, who spends a long time convincing her to form a band together — Iwasawa finally agrees after their first joint performance. Reserved and quiet, she opens up to Yuri and Hisako, the first people to treat her with real warmth.
Having made peace with her past, Iwasawa disappears at the end of the third episode, and Yui takes over as the band's vocalist. Her songs, however, stay with the SSS for the rest of the story.
